The Temple Within You 2014
The 2014 women's retreat celebrated a 10th year from May 15-18, 2014. We journeyed to Koinonia Coinference Center as we have in the past years. This year was a bit different because it was the smallest gathering since we began. We were small in number but mighty in spirit and the Lord was right there with us!
Pastor Rodney Celebrates One Year at New Hope!
On Sunday, December 8, 2013 the congregation of New Hope celebrated with our pastor of one year! He was presented with a gift from everyone. A wonderful luncheon was served following worship service and we dined as only New Hope can!!
New Hope Celebrates 40 Years of Ministry!
We had a wonderful weekend at New Hope celebrating our 40th Anniversary beginning with a spectacular bar-b-q where lots of members tha have moved away attended. Sunday morning worship service was devine as our message was delivered by The Rev. Dr. Rudolph Featherstone. Our liturgcal dance team danced beautifully and our senior choir turned it all the way up! At 3 p.m. we re-convened at Antun's where we attended the Anniversary Gala hosted by The Capital Campaign Committe and honored assemblyman William Scarborough. What a fabulous weekend of celebration we had!!!

For the 11th year, New Hope members and friends took to the streets of South East Queens to distribute literature about domestic violence. If you didn't join us this year, perhaps you will join us or send a representative next year. Our walk is always the 2nd Saturday of October..rain or shine!

Crab Feast 2013
The Capital Campaign Committee of New Hope held their 2013 Crab Feast fund raiser which included a visit to Arundel Millls, Maryland Live!, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and a surpise stop to the White House! The Crab Feast was held at Michaels of 8th Avenue where we ate, danced and had fabulous fellowship!

For the first time since 2008, The Evanelism Committee had the opportunity to host their "Share the Son-Share the Sun" outdoor service! The weather was sunny, hot and steamy as we worshipped on the lawn of New Hope and there was no rain!
Pentecost Sunday 2013
May 19thb was Pentecost Sunday and what a spirit filled day it was at New Hope! We had four children receive their first Holy Communion and of the four, Lloyd Frazier was also baptized!!

Crab & Shrimp Feast 2012
The Capital Campaign Committee sponsored a fund raiser to Atlantic City, NJ and Baltimore, MD. The red carpet was rolled out by chairperson, Grace Cohen and the fun and fellowship began on Friday, August 3 and finished Saturday, August 4, 2012. A wonderful time was had by all and we thank God that we were successful in our endeavor!
New Hope Expansion Dedication
This was truly a day of praise and thanksgiving! Folks traveled from near and far including our past pastors The Rev. Dr. James R. Thomas and The Rev. Brenda K. Smith who were our guest speakers at the 10:00 a.m. service and the 4:00 p.m. services respectively. If you weren't there you really missed a wonderful day at New Hope!
The Temple Within You - 2012
Twelve women traveled to Koinonia Conference Center on Thursday evening April 26, 2012 and returned safely to New Hope on Sunday, April 29, 2012.
The group had a wonderful time with events which included a healing service, daily devotional services twice a day, a relaxation workshop, massages and "be good to yourself time".
We enjoyed movie time (after the days scheduled events) which lasted late into the night for those who wanted to participate completed with fresh popcorn! Our last night we had snacks which included guacamole with chips, summer sausage, cheese, rice cakes and an assortment of other goodies!
Easter Egg Hunt & Program 2012
52 children and parents enjoyed learning about Jesus, coloring eggs and hunting for eggs on the lawn!
Ms Vida King turns 90!
Reatives, friends and relatives came from near and far came to salute Ms. Vida King on her 90th birthday!
New Hope's first healthy cooking and eating was held on February 11, 2010. A lot was learned and it was a fun event for all!
Farewell Pr. Wesley!
The people of New Hope host a thank you farewell luncheon for The Rev Dr. Lee H. Wesley who has served our congregation three times as interim pastor. We wish him God's speed and love as he departs!

We had a beautiful day as we walked through south east Queens distributing literature to combat domestic violence. We believe that at least one life was saved with God's grace and our efforts.

Lobster Fest 2010
The Capital Campaign Committee hosted another fabulous fund raising 2 day trip to Connecticut. Included in thre trip was:
a stop at Foxwoods casino with a bonus game and free buffet lunch.
a wine & cheese party upon arriving at the beautiful Hampton Inn
an all-you-can-eat lobster fest with steaks prepared to your liking, shrimp, salad, veggies, lobsters, crab legs and a scrumptous dessert bar at world famous "Crusty's" where the hospitality and service was phenomenal! deluxe breakfast at the Hampton Inn
a stop at Moheghan Sun casino with onus play and free buffet lunch.

3rd Annual Prayer Breakfast
The Capital Campaign Committe held their 3rd Annual Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, June 19,2010. The theme was "There Is Joy In Prayer" and the speaker was New Hope's own Deacon anita Williams. The breakfast was scrumptous and the fund raiser was well attended.
Men's Ministry Picnic 2010
The Men's Ministry hosted a fabulously filling picnic on June 27th as only they can do! There was a wonderful menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, sausages, grilled & bar-b-q chicken, macaroni salad, tossed salad, yellow rice, watermelon and assorted ice cream! It was a wonderful day of fellowship and laughter for all.

The Young Professionals of New Hope hosted their annual 5k walk/run for healthy communities and it was once again a wonderfully successful event, this year there was an added attraction of the Capital Campaign Committee's Fall Festival (raindate) where some of the vendors came out to offer wonderful merchandise for sale...see for yourself!

WELCA Bible Study
On Saturday, June 13, 2009 WELCA hosted a bible study for women based on the book od Judges. Participants were from New Hope and other area churches.

Women of New Hope, sister churches, friends old & new as well as co-workers gathered together as "The Temple Within You 2009" was held April 17-19, 2009. The weather was spectacular and God's abundance was in evidence! The Holy Spirit filled the entire 1200 acres of Koinonia Conference Center.

Men's Day 2008
The Men's Ministry held their Men's Day Service on November 2, 2008. The guest speaker was our own Sean McMillan.
Capital Campaign held their 1st"Fall Festival" on October 18, 2008. There were vendors selling jewelry, Tupperware, Mary Kay, gently used clothing, books, stereo equipment, household items and much more.....the biggest hit; chicken and fish dinners with collard greens, mac & cheese, potato salad or peas & rice. There were also chicken and fish sandwiches and home made cakes and pies, yum!
Outreach Strategies Ministry - 2008
The Outreach Strategies Ministry team hosted their 6th annual "Walk With New Hope Agaginst Domestic Violence" on October 11, 2008. The walk was blessed with 70 degree weather and bright sunshine!

35th Anniversary Service
New Hope celebrated 35 years of ministry with a spirit filled service on September 21st. A wonderful luncheon was served before the service and after the nutrition was received, souls were fed through song and word by all of the New Hope choirs; the speaker was our Interim Pastor, Rev. Dr. Lee Wesley. Rev. Dianne Loufman, assistant to Bishop Rimbo brought greetings.
5k walk/run 2008
The Young Professional group held the 3rd annual 5k walk/run to benefit Care For the Homeless and New Hope Capital Campaign Fund. The event was blessed with beautiful weather and a wonderful participant turn out.

New Hope Lutheran Church, friends, family, clergy & community came from near and far to bid Rev. Brenda K. Smith farewell and God's speed on August 31, 2008. Rev. Smith has accepted the call to the ELCA as the new Direcetor of Discipleship. There was a tremendous celebration following her final service as pastor.
